A need-based grant of $500 to $4,000 a year for Alaska residents attending a qualifying Alaska college, university or training provider, such as the University of Alaska campuses, Alaska Pacific University, Ilisagvik College or AVTEC. The FAFSA is the only application. Grants go to students with the highest financial need until the money runs out, with priority for earlier recipients, earlier FAFSA dates and full-time students.

What you'll need to apply

  • Financial information: FAFSA, filed every year, naming at least one qualifying Alaska institution. Need is judged by your Student Aid Index
  • Proof of enrollment or acceptance: Admitted to an undergraduate degree or vocational certificate program at a qualifying Alaska institution and enrolled at least half time, which your school certifies each year
  • Alaska resident for at least 365 days before filing the FAFSA, and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. You need a high school diploma or GED, no earlier bachelor's degree and satisfactory academic progress. Not every eligible student gets a grant, and getting one doesn't guarantee it next year

Requirements can change each cycle. Confirm them on the sponsor's page before you apply.
