How seniors should plan the year

Apply to the scholarships you actually qualify for rather than every one you find. A short, strong application to a scholarship that fits you beats ten rushed ones. Sort by the effort score to find the best return for your time, and apply to the no-essay scholarships early since they take the least time.

Do not skip aid that is not a scholarship. File the FAFSA as soon as it opens (see FAFSA and state aid), and check scholarships for your state. Running out of time? Look at the ones due in the next 30 days. Not a senior yet? See scholarships for juniors.
