Where do the scholarships come from?
From the sponsors themselves. Every scholarship on the site is a real program that we looked up and checked against the sponsor's own page, including the deadline, the essays, the recommendation letters and who is eligible. Nothing is scraped from other scholarship sites or made up, and we keep adding more. If you spot a mistake, use the Report an error link on any scholarship.
Do I have to make an account?
No. You can browse every scholarship on the homepage for free without signing in, and you can save scholarships on your device without an account too. If you want deadline reminders, enter just your email on the saved page or any scholarship page: no password and no profile questions. A full account is only needed to filter scholarships based on your grade level, state, major, and income range, and to get emailed when something new fits.
How often will I get an email?
You choose, when you create your account and any time after in your profile. If you have a profile, there are two ways to get email. Either way, we only email you when there is something to tell you; a quiet day sends nothing.
- A daily summary. One email on days with news, covering new scholarships that match you, matched scholarships whose deadline is in the next 14 days (they stay in the email until they close), and matched scholarships that are about to open or have just opened. We send it in the afternoon, after the school day.
- Only the alerts I choose. You pick which of these you want an email about: a new scholarship matches you, a deadline is coming up within 14 days, or a scholarship you matched is about to open or has just opened.
New accounts that don't choose start with deadline reminders only, so the inbox stays quiet until a deadline is close. Accounts made earlier keep the daily summary until you change it. Your profile also has a "No emails" option, and every email ends with an Unsubscribe link that stops them all.
What does the household income field actually do?
It's a broad range, and it's only used to avoid showing you scholarships that explicitly require demonstrated financial need if your range suggests you likely wouldn't qualify. It never blocks a scholarship unless there's a clear conflict, and we will always lean toward showing you one extra listing rather than hiding an opportunity. It is completely optional, so leave it blank if you'd prefer not to say.
Do you ever ask for a fee, my Social Security number, or bank details?
Never. A legitimate scholarship should never require payment to apply. We only ever ask for your grade level, state, intended major, and a rough income range. See our guide on avoiding scholarship scams for warning signs to watch for on other sites, too.
What happens to my data?
We store your email and the profile information you choose to give us. We don't sell it, and we don't share it with any scholarship sponsor or anyone else. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
Can you apply for scholarships at any time?
Mostly yes, but every scholarship has its own window, so there is always a deadline somewhere. Some are open all year, many close between October and March, and others close in spring or summer. The deadlines by month pages show what is due when, and the last-minute scholarships page shows what is due in the next 30 days.
Can I get a scholarship with a low GPA?
Yes. Many scholarships set no GPA minimum, and others accept a 2.0 or 2.5. See scholarships with no GPA requirement.
What is a scholarship tracker?
A scholarship tracker is a list of the scholarships you plan to apply to, with each deadline, the essays and letters needed, and where you are in the process. You can build one in a spreadsheet with our free tracker template, or use Scholarship Tracker, which fills in the details for you and emails you before deadlines.
Are no-essay scholarships worth applying for?
Usually, if the sponsor is real and does not ask for money. They take far less time, so you can apply to many, though more people apply to each. Browse the no-essay scholarships.
