What the effort score means
Quick
80 and up
Moderate
60 to 79
Substantial
40 to 59
Major project
0 to 39
The score comes from what the application asks for (essays, letters, transcripts), not from who the sponsor is. A 250-word essay on its own scores 80; a 500-word essay, a letter and a transcript scores 55. How it is worked out: www.scholarshiptracker.org/effort-score
