A four-year merit award at NC State that covers tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, travel and personal expenses, with an enrichment program on top. Financial need is not a factor. Applicants write two 600-word essays, submit two recommendations and need a 3.80 unweighted GPA. Semifinalists are interviewed by Zoom in January and finalists in Raleigh in March. Applying for NC State's Early Action admission by November 1 is part of it.
What you'll need to apply
- Essay (about 600 words): Essay on a time your curiosity led you to act, and what you took away (up to 600 words)
- Essay (about 600 words): Essay on your meaningful civic contributions and their impact (up to 600 words)
- 2 recommendation letters: Two recommendations, at least one from someone familiar with your academics (not a parent or guardian). They are due the same day as the application
- Information about advanced coursework you have completed
- Apply to NC State for fall first-year admission by November 1 (the Park committee also reads the activities list, personal essay and transcript from that application)
- Interview: Semifinalist Zoom interview in January, and in-person Final Selection Activities in Raleigh on March 5-6, 2027
- Minimum GPA 3.8 (Minimum unweighted GPA (non-rounded). SAT or ACT scores are not required)
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or a graduate of a U.S. high school. Not open to transfer students. Renewable for eight semesters with at least 12 credit hours a term; need-based aid can reduce the award so the total stays within the cost of attendance
Requirements can change each cycle. Confirm them on the sponsor's page before you apply.
