Education students with at least a 3.25 GPA can get up to $4,000 a year ($3,772 for 2026-27 after federal sequestration), but only if you agree to teach full-time for four years in a high-need field at a low-income school. If you don't finish that service within eight years, the grant turns into a loan you have to repay.

What you'll need to apply

  • Financial information: FAFSA
  • Minimum GPA 3.25
  • Complete TEACH Grant counseling
  • Sign the Agreement to Serve or Repay
  • Proof of enrollment or acceptance: Enrolled in a TEACH-eligible education program
  • You have to teach full-time for four years in a high-need field at a low-income school within eight years of finishing, or the grant converts to an unsubsidized loan you must repay

Requirements can change each cycle. Confirm them on the sponsor's page before you apply.

Eligibility

  • • Majors: Education, Teaching
  • • Minimum GPA: 3.25
