One application, open October 1 to December 16, 2026, puts you in the running for dozens of named flight training and aviation college scholarships from the Experimental Aircraft Association's foundation. Last year it awarded over $487,000 in flight training scholarships to 71 students and over $237,000 in post-secondary scholarships to 39 students. You must be at least 16, have a 2.5 GPA and be a U.S. or Canadian citizen or resident, or eligible to work or study there. You don't have to be an EAA member, though members are prioritized.
What you'll need to apply
- 1 recommendation letter: One non-relative character reference, who is sent an online form after you apply and must finish it by the deadline
- Transcript: Most recent transcript with your unweighted cumulative GPA (post-secondary scholarships only; unofficial is fine)
- Minimum GPA 2.5 (Minimum unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale. Some individual scholarships set a higher one)
- At least 16 years old, and a citizen or resident of the U.S. or Canada or eligible to work or study there. Many of the named awards have their own rules (age, income, a disability, an EAA Young Eagles or Air Academy history), so read each. Funds are paid to the school and must be used by March 1 after the award. The page doesn't list application essays; confirm on the application
The sponsor's page only listed some of what's needed, so this list may be missing items and the effort score may be higher than the real work. Requirements can change each cycle. Confirm them on the sponsor's page before you apply.
