This is actually the Indiana Department of The American Legion's program, not a national one - kids and grandkids of current or deceased Indiana American Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons of The American Legion members can compete for a share of $15,000 in awards.

What you'll need to apply

  • Essay (about 500 words): Reasons for consideration, use of funds, and your connection to the Legion family
  • Child or grandchild of a current or deceased Legion, Auxiliary or Sons member
