State grants and local awards are often the best odds a student has, because far fewer people apply. Pick a state to see every open award we list for it. Awards at the level of a single county, school or club aren't in any national database, which is where counselors come in: send us the ones you know about and we'll add them after checking.

Your community foundation, which often manages dozens of small scholarships under one application.
Civic and service clubs such as Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, Elks, VFW and American Legion posts.
Local employers, credit unions and banks, and the employers of students' parents.
Churches, synagogues, mosques and other faith communities.
Your school district, your PTA or booster club and your school's own alumni fund.
County and city offices, local chapters of professional associations and local unions.
A good habit is to keep one running list for your school, with the deadline, who it is for and who to contact, and to share it with students each fall. Sort it by deadline month, mark each row open, closing soon or closed, and go through it twice a year to remove expired awards.
Download a blank sheet with those columns. It opens in Excel, or in Google Sheets with File, then Import. Pair it with a simple Google Form that asks the questions in the list below, so people at your school can send you new awards instead of emailing them.
Send us a local scholarship
It helps to have these on hand when you fill out the form:
The scholarship's name and who offers it.
A link to the sponsor's own page or application. We check every listing against it.
The amount, the deadline and who can apply (grade, town or county, school or any other rule).
What the application asks for, such as an essay, letters or a transcript.
We read every submission and add the real ones after checking them against the sponsor's page, usually within a week or two. Please don't send awards that charge a fee to apply.
